Slightly panicking about job application!

Hi everyone, today I put in an application for a very senior role at a charity and they’ve come back to me inviting me in for a visit and chat this Friday.
I definitely want to go but am currently on annual leave, very relaxed and now a bit panicky about the whole thing 😁

I’ll be meeting the Chair and current CEO- any advice gratefully received! Should I approach it as an interview? What q’s should I ask?

What sort of charity is it ? Is it a big or small one ? I imagine if it was a formal interview they should say this. It sounds more like an informal visit ?

Recruiter here. Definitely approach it as an interview because it is one.

Do your research on the place before you go in, and if you have the names of the people you’re meeting, look them up on LinkedIn.

They’ve called you in based on your listed experience so make sure you know your CV in and out. If it’s on your CV, you should be able to talk about it in depth.

Ask questions about the charity, but not questions that can be answered with a google search. Ask what they enjoy about working there, for example. Make it personal, but keep it professional.

Arrive about 5-10 mins earlier and look presentable. Whatever is the dress code, match it. Be pleasant, but try not to be fake.

More importantly, do not tell anyone you’re interviewing, and if you get the job, wait to have a contract in hand before you hand in your notice to your current employer. It’s a fail safe

It depends on their in house recruitment style, how many interview rounds they hold, what they consider an interview round, who is the hiring manager, etc. Some people don’t specify what’s an informal chat vs what’s a formal chat, or what’s a screening vs what’s an interview, etc

An informal chat is a pre interview so yes research like you would and prep as if it is, then they'll probably invite you back for a more formal sit down.

Hi there, I'd definitely start by brushing up on your grammar (based on your original post). You wouldn't want this to let you down in a written exercise, and charities tend to love their in-tray exercises.

Best of luck!
