Informal investigation

Hi, I was, out of the blue, asked to attend an informal investigation into my work. I have discussed concerns regarding feeling burned out, excessively tired and the feeling that myself and my team do the work but not as well as we could. This is primarily due to lower staffing levels and performance targets that we have little control over (and cannot achieve owing to a number of factors not within our control.) I responded to the minutes of the meeting and emphasised and good outcomes we have achieved, which are never acknowledged. I raised the lack of supervision too. I was happy to agree to a monitoring plan (because to be quite honest im just now looking for another job) but now my line manager has gone off sick (after my response to the meeting and i did challenge my managers performance, lack of support at times and not acknowledging my achievements. I know thd line manager was under a lot of pressure but I think I was the straw that broke the camels back. I've now heard, unofficially, they are trying tk get rid of me! Can they? I just addressed and responded to an informal investigation.

An investigation is often an employer's first step if they are trying to dismiss someone OP. It's also a classic tactic to make your like more difficult to make you more likely to leave. I'd up your efforts to find something new if possible.

If you’ve worked there under 2 years they can get rid of you for any reason that isn’t discriminatory.

Protected characteristics

I've worked there for a long time, I don't have any protective characteristics (I don't think.) I just go along and, for the most part, have enjoyed my job. Over the past 6 months or so, it's become difficult and draining. Doesn't help mh commute can be , on some days 3+ hours.
