Hello,
I am relocating so changing jobs and have decided I'd prefer to work from home or at least at home 90% of the time.
Where do you find these jobs? I've looked on indeed but nothing standing out.
I have a one year old and it's just my preference:)

Have a look at the "work from home hub" on Facebook or Instagram.

I found mine on indeed, searched for home based and hybrid roles with my home town as most of them require at least occasional office time. I now work for a charity, 4 days from home, 1 day in the office. It took a while to find the right fit though.

Just watch out for MLMs.

I see people post on local fb pages asking about jobs, work from home, part-time, work around school hours etc and immediately get pounced on by MLMs.

LinkedIn

A lot of wfh jobs would still require you to use childcare as well, if you weren’t planning to already.

This.

Most office jobs are hybrid at the moment, i know of very few that are still fully remote

KnickerlessParsons · 25/07/2023 08:18

Many employers are forcing encouraging people to go back into the office.

storminamooncup · 25/07/2023 08:19

Look at charity jobs and change the location to remote or hybrid

EversoDetermined · 25/07/2023 08:21

What sort of job do you do now? Or in the past? Most office jobs can be at least partially WFH but that covers a lot of fields, you need to narrow down a bit.

Singleandproud · 25/07/2023 08:22

Civil service and government arms length bodies like DEFRA - APHA, Environment Agency, Natural England etc lots of national roles are WFH with jobs in admin, HR if you have no science background.

Hi,
Thank you everyone!
I am aware that I'll need childcare still. At the moment I work in retail and am always very busy. I also work nights and then have my daughter from 8am so exhausted

Working from home roles are definitely easier to find in some industries more than others. I’ve worked in marketing for over 10 years, and the majority of my jobs have been remote in that time.

I’ve also noticed a lot more customer service/call center being advertised as remote, or at least hybrid.

If looking on indeed, always change your location to “remote” - same with LinkedIn.

There are some sites that focus on remote only jobs, but I’m not sure if it’s okay to post links here.

What types of jobs are you looking for, or what industry?

This. I’ve even seen these make an appearance on Indeed recently, and on first glance was actually quite convincing as a genuine job.

I reported them, but they seem to still be there advertising their “great opportunity,”

chocolateisavegetable · 26/07/2023 07:32

I work for a county council in an admin job. WFH 99% of the time but could go into an office if I wanted to

PinkPlantCase · 26/07/2023 07:37

If you currently work nights and then have DC from 8am it sounds like you might not pay for childcare.

You will need childcare to wfh. I know some people have family who can help but nursery where we (not London or the south) is well over £1,000 a month so factor that in. Of course this should be seen as a joint expense if you have a partner.
