Reducing working hours vs benefits

I’m after some advice please.
I currently work 32 hours a week (night shifts) which I’m finding completely exhausting. I earn a fair wage which is what is keeping me in the job.
I am considering reducing my hours so I’m only working 2 nights as opposed to 3 to help manage my mental health and my home life. My husband works full time and earns £21k. We wouldn’t manage financially if we did this without any financial support.
Has anyone reduced their hours and received any benefits?
we live in a council property and our son is 2 years old.
I have been looking for a change of jobs with less hours but the pay is very low and we would struggle.
any kind advice would be much appreciated x

You need to do a benefit calculation on one of the sites. It is possible you might get a top up from UC but it depends on your circumstances.

Agree it’s possible you could get universal credit. Run the numbers through a calculator.
Your husband’s full time wage seems incredibly low, must be minimum wage? Is there anything he can do to increase his earning potential? Is it even worth paying for childcare with him on that wage? Or would he be better off going part time rather than you?
I hope you get to rest after your night shifts and don’t then have to care for your son.
