NHS Recruitment breach of confidentiality

So, looking for some opinions on this please. I'm an AHP, not long in my current role (6 months). Have started applying for other positions in my trust and other trusts as current role was misold and looking for more clinical time than I was sold Anyway, my current colleagues are very cliquey and a colleagues daughter works in recruitment who has told my colleague I have applied for other positions/got interviews. No evidence here other than her knowing I have applied for other positions and had interviews.

Really not happy about this and surely a data breach. Any thoughts on this?

I would report this to HR every single time. I can just not be doing with this at work. I would be livid.

Classicpets · 12/07/2023 19:11

Absolutely @Summerslimtime I am livid. This situation is the same as me discussing patient info with someone who has no right to such information.

Yes, report to HR. Your colleague's daughter has no right to tell people anything about you.

WhatADrabCarpet · 12/07/2023 20:26

Absolutely report this.
Breach of confidentiality is a serious issue.

You can report but evidencing it might prove difficult. Still, it is the right thing to do.

NewJobDeflated · 12/07/2023 20:56

I used to work in the NHS and confidentiality was such a HUGE deal I'm amazed these staff think they can get away with this!

The dept I worked in were so incredibly cautious when it came to confidentiality (for staff and patients).

Definitely report.

Thank you.I think evidencing it will be the problem as its all based on conversation in passing, so yes very hard to evidence. I think it's absolutely disgusting. Fully aware people gossip but this is not on.

That's atrocious, Op. Definitely report. I used to work for the NHS and after being ill, went back to work with all the staff knowing what I was off for ! Was really pissed off. Couldn't prove it but it was obviously my Line Manager who took my sick call who told them. It's disgraceful.

Have you asked your colleague how she knows you've applied for other jobs/got interviews? Wher're does she say she heard about it?
