Anyone got good answers for this.... or any insight into answers you've enjoyed if you are a recruiter?
Thanks

I'm in my 60s and if I was at an interview where they asked me such a bloody stupid question I'd probably say ' the ability to go all night without getting up to pee' 🙄

Cattenberg · 06/07/2023 12:32

USA

Aria20 · 06/07/2023 17:19

@Cattenberg I don't get it?
@lizziebuck yes I hear you.
I hate these type of questions and I never know what a "good" answer is or what they are looking for!

Too freeze , rewind and fast forward time.

CornishTiger · 06/07/2023 17:26

Obviously I know the difference between to and too. Classic example of a rewind time needed!

OnceAgainWithFeeling · 06/07/2023 17:26

The ability to sit in someone else’s head for 10
minutes.

Cooroo · 06/07/2023 17:28

To be able to view a place through time - fast backwards etc. At a Roman site, or a castle, or just a farm - to watch the people in 400AD or 1000BC going about their daily business. I'm obsessed with this!

C1N1C · 06/07/2023 17:38

I think these are both a personality and technical thinking question.

If you say don't ask me childish questions, that clearly shows you're impatient and not particularly social/jokey etc (sorry)... if you come up with a x-Ray vision, which has very little day to day practical use, and could be considered intrusive, that's a fail too.

I'd err in this case for something like eidetic memory or technopathy. They show intelligence, a desire to better yourself, creativity, etc, and you can work in the key skills your employer might want.

"I'd probably choose technopathy, which is the ability to control machines" because it would be incredibly useful in today's society. I could network all satellites (demonstrates a desire to communicate well), use AI to optimise the transport network so there would never be any late trains etc (problem solving), drop all firewalls so there's no government censorship, giving complete equality (teamwork/integrity)..." things like that...

Aria20 · 06/07/2023 18:20

@C1N1C that's an interesting answer!

PelvicFloorExerciseReminder · 06/07/2023 18:23

I'd say I'd like the ability to teleport as I don't like driving.

midsomermurderess · 06/07/2023 18:28

To speak and understand any language you are exposed to. So if you are doing business in China or Germany, bam, you can immediately communicate.

JustFrustrated · 06/07/2023 18:35

The ability to answer random questions with the right answer.

Ive taken to calling out shit questions in interviews before they're even asked though

To not have a face that says oh too clearly "fuck off" when people annoy me!

SweetSakura · 06/07/2023 19:52

I hate these kind of questions and would think less of a recruiter who asked them! I'm a professional at an interview it's not a party game.

Sorry that probably doesn't help Grin

BarelyLiterate · 06/07/2023 19:57

Well, there is a big difference between the optimal answer to give in a job interview and the truth, obviously….
In an interview, you might say that you would want to see the future in order to anticipate customers needs before they realise they have them to create better fulfilment blah blah bullshit bullshit.
Whereas in reality you might want to see the future in order to know tomorrow’s Euromillions numbers so you didn’t need to apply for their crappy job.

Goldfoot · 06/07/2023 20:08

I'd have come up with some cheesy waffle when I was younger. Now I think I might actually look them in the eye and say "if that's how the culture is here, I don't think I'm the right fit, but thanks for the opportunity".

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 06/07/2023 20:14

My truthful answer would be telekinesis, but only if i could move myself too. If not, I'd like to be able to fly.

I think telekenisis would save so much time! No wandering into a room and forgetting why I was there, and wandering off again. Just think 'I need the stapler' and BAM! Stapler. Fantastic.

And moving myself / flying. No traffic jams or train delays. Think of all the money you'd save on travel.

I may have spent too much time musing this. And I'm not sure my hopeless memory should be disclosed in an interview...

MissHoollie · 06/07/2023 20:16

The ability to think of smart answers to interview questions

If I could have any of the superpowers, I probably wouldn’t go for China or Russia, so I’d take the US, I suppose.

This would also be my response to such a truly silly question.

LadyLapsang · 06/07/2023 21:30

I’m with @lizziebuck and @Goldfoot. This reminds me of a previous boss who devised some crazy quiz with different Star Wars spacecraft, I was thinking this will come in useful if DH dies and I have to screen out guys before a date - I.e. if they know the answers they are not in the running.

Aria20 · 06/07/2023 21:30

Lol it might surprise you to know this was a question in an nhs interview today!

I was on the spot and said telepathy as I couldn't think of anything else but some of these responses are so much more thoughtful. I will try to keep them in mind for future silly interview questions....

O would say to be able to click my fingers and be anywhere in the world (Like T-bag used to!). Save so much time and money on fuel/air fare etc

LadyLapsang · 06/07/2023 21:55

@Aria20 It doesn’t surprise me in the least. In the early 80s they used to ask are you married or engaged, illegal but at least they wanted to know if they would get some work out of you before maternity leave or a career break.
