I work in a school as education support (but not yea her or at!)

Winter I wear jeggings, boots, shirt or t shirt and fleeces.

Spring/autumn I wear jeggings, pumps, shirt/t shirt and cardigan

Summer I wear knee length dresses (with cycle shorts underneath but I Dom have to get on the floor with pupils!) and cardigan if a cooler day.

I have work clothes - Eg ones that I'm not precious about if they get dirty, stained with paint, ripped etc. (doesn't happen often but can happen sometimes)

Also means that I can take something to mix and match dependent on the days weather and activities.

Our school TAs wear shirt+cardie and trousers, something easy to move about (depending on year you'll be teaching), or maybe a simple top and a long skirt.

Congrats on getting your job! Thanks for helping our schools, especially during tough times.

I should add it's because in my role I can be doing anything from parent workshops, training staff, working with pupils, playground duty, responding to calls for support and/or running around forest school with our therapy dog 🤣🤣

It will all depend on the schools clothing policy. We're not allowed to wear jeans or trainers or anything low cut, at a previous school skirts had to be below the knee no leggings and no sleeveless tops.
Most tas I know wear a pair of smart trousers, a top and I wear a cardigan as the heat in schools can be totally different from one class room to the other. It will also depend on the year group, reception etc you could be on the floor alot of the time.

Primary or secondary? Tends to be a difference

I'm a TA and I wear a lot of wide leg trousers with shirts and smart low heeled boots in the winter. In the summer it's long skirts and pumps. I do wear leggings and trainers, but that is when I'm a 1 to 1 with a KS1 child who loves PE and trying to escape - hes pretty quick when he wants to be!

I wear lots of bold print dresses or leggings and tunics with pumps. I teach Reception so need to wear flexible clothes to get on floor a lot.

Where I work you can wear PE clothes for the children's PE days - joggers and polo usually. Check whether that's the done thing.

Then it's usually dresses - I have quite simple jersey dresses so easy to wash in case of paint or pen. Or I wear trousers and a smart tshirt (a jersey top rather than a casual T) or a blouse. Cardigans are handy.

Flat shoes!

We're not allowed jeggings or jeans. Only allowed trainers if supporting/teaching PE that day. This should all be outlined in your induction info or handbook

Thanks for the replies everyone, lots of good suggestions. It's a primary school. Didn't realise there might be a dress code, hopefully will find out when I get the info for the job

Smartish trousers (perhaps with a stretch so you can move about with ease)

day dress with tights

nice blouse and trousers if it’s not a really active class

I wear boots (from m&s) with a slight wedge
