NHS conditional offer

Star24009 · 24/06/2023 16:53

I got a conditional offer and all my references have been sent. I have a lot of sicknesses however, it was COVID and the other one was work-related stress from the manager not work-related. When I contacted the manager she said she need to speak to someone higher from HR. Anyone has been through this? Can they decline this offer?

work-related stress from the manager

that is the definition of work related stress so don’t for goodness sakes say that to them

Jazzappledelish · 24/06/2023 16:58

If it was a problem, you would be contacted.

but you contacted them and started the ball rolling

how much is “a lot”

What happened with the similar situation last year, Op?

Jazzappledelish · 24/06/2023 17:19

Not similar

Identical!

very odd

Blimey you don't have a lot of luck !
As it happens though I was in a simulator situation after applying for my most recent job- had a few episodes of covid and also had some issues I was undergoing tests for but they didn't even ask about it

Sorry - I am getting confused - you have two threads going on this in addition to the one you posted last year. Is it correct that you currently work for the NHS, so this is an internal move? It seems to read from last year that you were already working for the NHS? But you really do need to fill in a lot of details now as this is not uncomplicated. If you have already had trouble getting clearance for work and now have (a lot?) more sickness since the last time, I am afraid even we would be looking very carefully at whether we wanted to employ you.

You need to explain what happened previously, and what has gone on since, and what levels of sickness you are talking about.

@Jazzappledelish "work-related stress from the manager

No it isn't the definition of work related stress. The definition of work related stress is "a form of anxiety for which the primary causal factor may be related to the workplace". Sometimes that may be because of poor management. It may equally be that the management is fine but the person isn't "right" in the role for some reason - that is still stressful, especially if the person cannot fathom the part they are playing in the way management responds. And it is often due to a range of other factors including unmanageable workloads (which may or may not be within the employers control) and the type of work involved (so, for example, social work roles have high stress levels). Managers are not demons and they are not reponsible for everything bad that happens in a workplace.

Op won’t be back

which is a shame because I suspect she is a rather intriguing character!

Star24009 · 25/06/2023 17:42

That one is for a new job

I got the other job, this is a new post

4 months

It gets even odder

So one year ago you ask EXACTLY the same question - about a conditional job offer with the NHS and lots of sick leave

are you now saying that in that job… you also had a load of sick leave? 4 months?! You started the job 10 months ago

what on earth is going on here oP?

Jazzappledelish · 25/06/2023 17:51

You ask in your OP Anyone has been through this?

Yes…. YOU! 😂

Star24009 · 25/06/2023 18:00

No it's not like that. 4 months for all 3 years

OP posts:
Jazzappledelish · 25/06/2023 18:23

So last year - when you asked the same question, also for the NHS - didn’t you find out answer to your question then?

Or are you saying that this last year has seen a big increase in sick leave that makes you even more worried than this time last year?

Jazzappledelish · 25/06/2023 18:24

That’s a huge amount of sick leave

All signed off by a GP I presume?
