Homeworkers on £50k+

If you are a homeworker on £50k+ a year,
what do you do?

I’m looking for inspiration as I want to
leave my NHS manager role and jump into something that will allow home working.

I’ll be moving house soon into a more
rural area.

Would you believe though that my job is able to be done from home (mostly) and we had started working from home one day a week - which was great as I got loads done away from the distractions - but they’re stopping us WFH! No trust!!

NHS employee since 1996 so I’m pretty annoyed with it especially as so many other NHS roles are WFH. One day a week would be great but we can’t even have that!

Civil service here - I think an NHS manager would have many relevant transferable skills.

PatChaunceysFruitCake · 24/06/2023 20:06

Most civil service departments will want you to attend the office for 40% of your time. There are some arms length bodies that may be more relaxed.

What are those?

ICS = Integrated Care System
NHSE = NHS England.

They are looking for project and programme managers generally. Assuming from your post you are a band 7 / band 8a? You really should be getting some exposure to what NHSE and the ICSs do.

I also have a strong background in quality management (as well as a NHS profession) so hoping I can do something with that.

I'm in cybersecurity and governance. If you have a Quality management background, how about looking at ISO9001 auditing or other similar frameworks.

Online education (further and higher), various companies. Could online training, assessment, tuition be an option?

christmastreefarm · 25/06/2023 08:29

Who do you need to switch roles? Can you not just switch to an bugs trust that does allow WHF.

My friend works for NHS and is pretty much WFH more than in office.

Regulation policy. I pop into the office about once a fortnight but there's no requirement that I do. £65k.

I’d definitely prefer something along the lines of quality/regulation as I have a string of qualifications and experience in the area (that I did as part of my NHS role). I’ll see what’s out there.
