LinkedIn etiquette

I came off LinkedIn for a few years for security reasons, I am back on now I'm in a more public facing role and in that time have gotten some desirable qualifications in a sought after field so getting more attention than I am used to! I am public sector, I like to keep my options open and network with colleagues, but I'm not sure what to do about the requests for connections and "chats" about roles. I appreciate most of these are fishing and not personal to me beyond ticking a recruitment box, so getting a bit frustrated, but equally don't want to cut my nose off to spite my face as I know some people successfully use it for job moves?

Not actively looking, but always curious is how I would describe my LinkedIn status! How do you handle approaches? Is it rude to ignore people like you would on other social media? Do you tell them you're not looking right now? Do you accept connection requests? I should add I'm quite cautious from a security perspective and have to consider malicious approaches which is probably why I am over thinking it. Is there a way of verifying people?

Ignore recruiters and don't accept them as followers.
Unless you are actively looking for work of course

Thank you, I remember a few years ago someone saying on here it was rude to ignore them which is what concerned me but I guess they must be used to it!
