SSP - how to pay ?

I employ a Nanny, and she's had a period of sickness and has qualified for SSP (after the 3 waiting days). I've used the SSP calculator and determined that she's eligible for £75.22 in SSP.

We've paid her for the other days sick, so I want her take home pay to be the same as usual, so that she's not any worse off financially. Do I just deduct the £75.22 from her gross pay, and then add SSP as a line on her payslip. Or do I just pay her as normal, and show the SSP on the P11?

On the P11 do I need to adjust her gross pay down, or do I leave it the same, but just include the SSP amount paid?

Hoping someone can clarify for me..

I have absolutely no idea I'm afraid. There are some lovely helpful payroll/financy people who sometimes pop in here but in the meantime bump and does this give you any help?

Thanks flowery. I've had a look through the HMRC site and the CD ROM, but it's not that obvious. However I have seen references to treating SSP as pay, for the purposes of tax and NI, so I'm now thinking that I do need to deduct the amount from salary, and then put it back in as SSP and then do the normal deductions for tax and NI.

If anyone knows for sure and confirm then I'd be grateful.
