Should I take this job offer

So after an interview (which I thought was awful) I got offered a job. On paper it's the dream role, so why am I hesitant to accept.

It's a private sector job, I've spent my working life inside the public sector. Got lots of prospects for promotion and pay rises, good pension, and annual leave allowance, more than my job now. Comes with a good pay rise. I can build my own team, it's a new role that has been created specifically and is in my specialist area. From a 100% personal perspective it's the perfect offer.

But emotionally it's difficult to leave where I am now. I love (some) of the people I work with, I do enjoy certain aspects of the job but the openly admit I do more than my male counterparts yet they are of a higher grade than me and I will never be promoted.

Please give me the swift kick I need to realise this is the opportunity I've been looking for.

Go for it! Anything new will seem scary at first, but it sounds amazing FlowersBrew

You can't stay somewhere just for the people. Imagine if the people you wanted to stay for all left tomorrow.

Sounds like a really good opportunity so go for it.

I’ve just done very similar, I am so happy at my new job, the money has improved our lifestyle, the work is more interesting and I have just met my favourite old colleague for lunch. Go for it!

My thoughts exactly.

You don't owe any of them anything. If they needed to you'd be made redundant. There is no loyalty.

Take the job!

You'd be crazy not to take it

Thanks all, I know it's the right thing to do logically.

I'm just about to send off my acceptance letter. It's scary, but it's the right thing for me and DS.

Just need to get over my imposter syndrome now! Grin

Read what you wrote over and over again! You're being held back because they value men more. Take the new job and fly high!!! Congratulations and best of luck 💐 🥳

@ThanksHunPenneys you're right. I've never experienced that before. It's odd.

I can't thank you all enough for the kick. I've submitted the acceptance and will await the contract. It's going to be tough but I think it will be worth it in the end.
