I have been a stay at home mum for almost 11 years. I am looking to go back to work but have no references, any ideas on the type of person I can put?

I returned to the workplace not that long ago after a few years break. With a shorter break, I still had some relevant work references that I could provide, but I also asked a friend to provide a reference (the job I took required personal and detailed references due to the nature of the workplace).

I chose a friend that had known me for a very long time, since childhood in this case and she is also somebody in a caring profession, which I thought was relevant to the type of workplace I was going into.

2018-2019

Best of luck OP.

TA work is ridiculously competitive for the pay etc - when I was looking about 5 or 6 years ago I applied to about 30 schools, got a few interviews but never got the job. I had a better chance of just qualifying as a teacher. They regularly said they had well over 50 applicants which is kinda ridiculous for such a low pay job :( Anyway, I really don't mean to dishearten you but you will have a much better chance of success if you can do some volunteering at school again - I'd try and get that going asap. You'll look a lot stronger on the application and get to know all the stupid internal school lingo for the interviews, and have a good recent reference.

2018-19 is definitely recent enough they'll have your stuff on file tho, it won't be a personal reference but they'll be able to confirm you were there.

Best of luck!
