Any Data Scientist Mums?

I was wondering if anyone here works as a Data Scientist and would be able to explain in simple terms what their job is like?

The reason I am asking is that I am thinking of applying to an online Masters in Data Science and it would be a career change for me.

What kind of tasks do you do day to day? What challenges do you face? Is it stressful? Do you have many deadlines?

Thanks so much in advance!

When recruiting I look for enthusiasm for the domain , a logical mathematical brain, a flexible rounded person with reasonable interpersonal skills

I assume I can train the coding skills

Not recruiting at the moment however

This is interesting, I would have assumed a coding / technical test would be necessary for these sorts of roles? (in banking I did excel modelling tests and numeracy test for each new role).
Shame you are not recruiting!! 😂

Thank you, can I ask which MSc programme you did? Also you mentioned that you re-trained via an apprenticeship, is that in addition to your MSc?

I did the Level 4 Data Analysis apprenticeship, which taught me basic Python and SQL. I had training in statistics and A-Level maths already. I then did my masters in DS as an apprenticeship, I'd prefer not to say which uni if you don't mind, but you can google and find the available programmes.

The apprenticeships do require a supporting job or ability to get one. I got my existing job to support mine.

Yes of course, this is still very helpful. Sounds like you find your job interesting and fulfilling, which is great!
