Career change advice at 50

I've been self employed all my life up until recently but due to a life changing event am now looking for a new career path but I haven't a clue where to begin. I'm willing to re-train, do a course or apprenticeship but could really do with some direction for career ideas. I have also home educated my children but I don't want to go into teaching. I'm apprehensive as I have just turned 50 and the thought of starting over is a little scary! Any advice on good, well paid career ideas would be so appreciated. My business was of an artistic nature so this would be my area of expertise but I'm open to suggestions 😁

If you’re thinking of retraining you may find the MN Mature Study and Retraining board helpful - in terms of suggesting routes you might follow.

Lots of people (including me!) have taken up degrees, postgrad study, apprenticeships in middle age; it can be a fantastic adventure and can open up the world in all sorts of unexpected ways.
