Advice - Meeting with manager

I have been in my role for 3 months which really is not what I was expecting. There has been no training, support, the job in parts is not the same as advertised and the culture of the department is toxic. I have a mid probation meeting with my manager tomorrow, how do I go into this meeting and be honest yet positive without jeopardising my job (until I find something more suitable). I have desperately worked hard in being self sufficient to a point but my colleagues keep saying I should know more at this stage which I find incredibly tough considering there has been hardly any support and a distinct lack of guidance in how the department operates and what is required of me (I am an admin assistant).

I am basing this advice on the fact that you seem to be saying that you just need to stay in the job until you find another one, and when you do nothing would convince you to stay. Is that correct?

If yes, do not say anything critical at all, under any circumstances. Think of some nice things to say, even if they aren't true. Although not so nice that you are obviously lying! Have a list of areas that you feel you would benefit from some further training / support, and concentrate on achieving a plan that gets you that. Your role here is to find sticking plasters that you can use to cover the wounds until you can get the hell out, and no more. Smile a lot. Nod at the right places. Carry on applying for other jobs.
