What kind of work

My partner was made redundant last year from factory job he had for 12 years almost
He quickly found work for the Xmas period at Sainsbury's and then was let go as not needed anymore.
Quickly found work again at Tesco working 10pm-7am Saturday Sunday and Monday night. We have two small children ( 7 and 2) and I had seen a sahm since eldest born
At this point I had to return to work to for the money and because I didn't want to be a sahm anymore
I now work in a different tesco doing Tuesday 2-9pm
Wednesday 2-7pm but often over time until 9pm
Friday 1-8pm
And then I also often pick Thursdays up as over time 9-4 or 12-8 shifts.
I feel like we are passing ships a lot and have no real family time as obviously he sleeps in the day after night shifts for 7 hours each time. Tuesday morning he needs to sleep before I leave for my shift to get through until bedtime..it's hard
Youngest starts nursery in September 3 days 9am-3pm term time pre school type nursery. Probably go up.to 4 days when she is 3.

He is absolutely sick of working nights. He has just passed his driving test but has no idea what to look for. Everywhere Wants full flexibility and we just don't have that

If he has passed his driving test why not enquire about being a delivery driver at Tesco?

Sussexcricket · 20/05/2023 15:38

Yes we've looked at this. You need to hold your license for a year though.
Not that we will be getting a car but he is on his mums cars insurance now to get some experience

Think of it as only being temporary maybe..when my two youngest were babies my husband worked from 6am-6pm Mon-Fri and I worked from 6pm-11pm four days a week. My 13 year old had to babysit for 20 mins between me leaving and my hubbie coming home.

if he hates working nights, will he be able to drive for Amazon or any other courier service?

Sussexcricket · 20/05/2023 15:49

It is really hard but I do know it's temporary.
I hope as they get older this won't always be how it is but it just feels absolutely relentless at the moment and I fantasize often about just a week alone without any kids and work with him 🤣

Maybe something to look at
