Holidays/pension

I've not been permanent for quite a while as I have done temp/contract roles. What is the "standard" holiday and pension as I have no real clue. Does this look good...7% pension contribution by employer and 24 days holiday plus 3 days given when closed at xmas. No mention of public holidays. Any thoughts?

I think this includes all public holidays.

It probably depends on the industry. Have you checked job adverts for similar roles?
20 days + BH is the minimum so as long as the 3 days over Xmas are in addition to the 24 days it sounds like a good deal. I usually see 24/25 when I’m job hunting. The added bonus is you won’t have to fight your colleagues to get that time off every year.
3% employer contribution is the minimum but some companies will pay up to 10 or 15% so again it depends on what is standard in your industry.

Statutory entitlement is 5% employer's pension contribution, and if full time 28 days hols, which can include bank Holidays.

They are offering 27 days hols, which isn't enough to meet statutory, so it's likely to be bank Holidays on top, but you need to clarify that with them. If not, you need to challenge it.

Slightly over statutory pension entitlement.

Not 'good' benefits, but not bad either.

Sorry, typo in there, minimum employer pension is 3%.

ilovebrie8 · 18/05/2023 11:20

I have no clue what is standard hence me asking on here, I normally temp/contract so pension and hols are irrelevant as you just get a day rate...My gut feeling though was that this was not that great

it includes bank holidays

Would you work full time, 5 days a week?

Timeforchangeithink · 18/05/2023 12:13

The legal minimum is 28 days per year - doesn't matter what they're made up if eg floating days, bank holidays etc.

Weedoormatnomore · 18/05/2023 12:18

Do you work 5 days a week ? If so 27 days inc bank Holidays is below the required 20 days plus 8 Bank Holidays !

ilovebrie8 · 18/05/2023 12:20

yes it would be 5 days a week

Double check that with them @ilovebrie8 if full time it needs to be 28days+ in total (or pro rated hourly if part time)

Isyesterdaytomorrowtoday · 18/05/2023 12:24

If bank holidays are included and it’s really 28 then I’d want confirmation that you can take them whenever- otherwise you only have flexibility with 17days leave which I wouldn’t be happier with

the 7% pension is decent though

ilovebrie8 · 18/05/2023 12:24

okay thank you
