Hi ladies,

long story short - I (F 27) have fallen ill with multiple autoimmune diseases and put on medications , both of which really effect my energy levels. I am still competent to work however, physical work seems to be proving too much for me now and has me crying with exhaustion almost every day and I’m starting to feel real depressed by it and I can’t cut my hours any more than I have done as we’re saving for a house!

because of this, I would like to look at working from home..

problem is, I’ve always worked with children before, and currently work in retail. I have no qualifications for / experience working an IT based role and worry that the lack of experience will prevent me being of interest to any potential employers.
willing to do some online courses to increase my chances if necessary (any pointers would be great!)

my question is , have any of you started as a complete novice working from home in such a role? If so, what was it and what did you do to A) land the job & B) be successful in it?

just looking for inspiration / advice

thank you in advance x

When you say worked with children, do you mean caring or teaching? Wondering about transferable skills.

Some charities have volunteer roles that are purely home based, so that might be something to explore to develop skills and experience.

thanks so much for replying. childcare in a nursery setting to begin with , and then was a preschool teacher. (Did specialised training for autism etc). Loved it , it just didn’t pay the bills unfortunately.

i will have a google about charity roles and also have a nosey at your link , thank you
