Does anyone know who to complain to about managerial staff in an NHS setting from an employee. I am in the Leeds area

A brick wall? Sorry that’s not helpful but sadly that’s my current experience. I’ve been to her manager (who said “I’m so sorry this is happening”) and HR who lied to me. Behaviour has been witnessed so I get lots of sympathy but advice is to leave… I’m really trying.

The Freedom to speak out team can probably help.

StandUpForYourRights · 09/05/2023 19:09

Ideally raise a grievance to the manager of the person you wish to complain about. Alternatively there should be a speaking out / whistle blowing policy if you wish to remain anonymous. Failing that, anyone in HR or anyone senior you can trust

@TeenLifeMum sadly experienced by lots of colleagues also who have had issues/being bullied. Colleagues who have been in the NHS 10 years plus best advice they were given was to leave. Absolutely disgusting.

Gosh, selfishly I’m glad I’m not alone but I’m really sorry you're going through the same.
I don't want to give too much away but I am leaving, sadly because I feel very forced out. I raised a complaint with my managers manager and was advised that an investigation would be started and am I sure that's what I want to happen - ie don't bother. I decided to leave quietly but since handing in my notice other issues have come about and I’m being made the scapegoat as I’m the one leaving.
Nothing can save my job unfortunately, but I would like my manager to face the consequences so other people in our office don't go through the same.

Freedom to Speak Io Guardian

VioletCharlotte · 09/05/2023 19:36

Speak up!

TeenLifeMum · 09/05/2023 19:39

Our freedom to speak up guardians were band 7-8as but now they’re inexperienced band 5s so I don’t really feel I can take my issues to. The idea with freedom to speak up is they give you a voice with the senior team but if I can’t provide my own voice at my level then I can’t see how a band 5 will be able to on my behalf.

I wish I could leave - I’m trying and getting great feedback from interviews but no actual job offers so I’m stuck. Good luck op. Maybe log it all and send the log to the hr dept after cc’ing in the ceo.

Also, check house insurance as you may have legal cover. Ours covers employment law.

Mumof1andacat · 09/05/2023 19:41

I take it you have another job to go to so you're the winner in this? Just leave with your head head high

Mumof1andacat · 09/05/2023 19:42

The people in your office a lost cause. If they can't see the toxic environment then that's their fault.

greyhairnomore · 09/05/2023 20:01

Our team went to our Freedom to Speak up Guardian- absolutely crap. Never heard a good outcome.

Request an exit interview and say your bit!

Sadly I went through the Raising Concerns Policy (Previously called the Whistleblowing Policy and now Freedom To Speak Up) a few years ago and had a really poor experience. The person appointed to investigate wasn't neutral, they wanted me to discuss my concerns in a public cafe and brought the patient files there - so I refused to discuss my concerns in that environment. We did discuss the concerns later, but nothing was done and I didn't feel heard. Then my anonymity was not maintained by the investigator to the person I'd raised concerns against and my life at work swiftly became absolute hell. I ended up being signed off with stress and then left for a different NHS trust. Five years later and the member of staff is still in the team, there are still concerns about their practice but no-one else wants to speak out because of what happened to me. It's a process that should protect staff and the public but I'm afraid I've not heard any positive experiences of it.
