NHS interview

I have got interview call for data coordinator band 4 in NHS coming Tuesday.
There are always questions and answers that make me nervous. Tell me about yourself/why you want this job/leadership and management related questions/GDPR questions/cancer pathways, 18 weeks etc.
What are the values and principles of the NHS, and what are the conflicts? Are there any other questions you think I may have?
Can you please help me on how to answer the interviewer's questions.
If you could provide me with examples of questions and answers, I would greatly appreciate it.

Hello, I've interviewed people for lots of NHS roles. Do you work for the NHS at the moment?

I'm not sure if it's the same for all trusts, but we always ask 4/5 values based questions, these tell us about you and how you would behave in certain situations, and 4 skills based questions.

So for example, the values based questions may include things like 'Can you tell us about a time you delivers excellent customer service?' Or 'Can you tell us about a time you made improvements to a process' or 'Can you tell us about a time when things didn't go to plan and what did you do to resolve it? Google examples of values based questions and prepare some examples.

When you answer the question, use the STAR format - Situation, Task, Action, Result. And make sure you say 'I', not 'we' so it's really clear to the interviewer what your role you played.

For the skills questions, read the person spec and make sure you can talk about your experience of all the essential criteria. So for example, if one do the criteria is 'experience of working with confidential and sensitive data', make sure you're prepared to answer this and give examples.

It's a good idea to prepare some questions to ask at the end. This could include things like 'Can you tell me a little bit about the culture of the organisation and what it's like to work here?' , 'What sort of opportunities are there for learning and development?' Again, if you Google, there's lots of ideas for questions to ask at interviews.

I always really like it if people are passionate about working for the NHS, rather than just wanting a job.

Good luck with it! My DS also has an interview this week for a band 3 role.

Thank you so much for your valuable advise. Presently, I am working on Band 3. but this post for Band 4, as a radiography data coordinator as well as for deputy for the directorate support manager when necessary.

Could you please advise me about very basic question " tell me about your self" how will start answer for this ?

I wouldn't ask anyone that in an interview myself, but if I was asked it, I think I would talk about the job I'm doing right now, how long I've been doing it, very brief overview of what I did previously. Then use it as an opportunity to talk about your strengths and your qualifications. For example, "I really enjoy working as an administrator as I feel it plays to my strengths. I am naturally organised and I'm very good at planning which means that I can make sure the office runs efficiently", or "I have a degree in English Language. I'm meticulous about correct punctuation and grammar and always take the time to proof read letters and reports".

BG2015 · 16/05/2023 20:12

I'm thinking of going for an NHS job, I'm currently a primary school teacher. Would my skills be transferable?

NKSS · 17/05/2023 17:44

Hi Rita,

I am not selected this time in this data coordinator Interview.
Questions was almost same NHS values, Behaviour and data safety, about conflict situation.
They did asked some specific departmental questions. I did explain but they were not satisfied.
