Has anyone had any experience of being accused by men of acting unreasonably because of their pregnancy in the workplace. And if so, how did you cope?

By going to HR because it’s discrimination. How dare they!

I wasn’t the person going to HR, I was the person in HR. Pregnant colleague quite rightly submitted a grievance which we upheld.

Thanks @Littlegoth I will do. I got very upset and defensive after being told this and now feel as though I have played into their narrative of being an overly emotional pregnant woman. Which has now heightened my feelings of upset 😬

@Littlegoth can I ask on what grounds the grievance was upheld?

It was upheld using the equality act, that he had treated her unfavourably due to her pregnancy - the unfavourable treatment being the comment. We’ve had and upheld similar grievances for comments made to colleagues commenting on perception of menopausal symptoms. Cheeky gits. He wouldn’t have made that comment if you hadn’t been pregnant (which makes it discriminatory)and in any case it’s completely inappropriate for him to make a negative comment like that and link it to your pregnancy.

Thank you @Littlegoth that makes sense. And Jesus, what's wrong with people re. comments about menopausal symptoms?!

Pregnant, menopause - common denominator is that it’s aimed at a woman. They wouldn’t dream of making similar derogatory comments towards another man.
