Is there any point in saying anything if nothing will change..?

I mean, I know I should say something but I know nothing will come of it!

The position is I really really struggle working from home. I just don’t work effectively and also I find it so incredibly isolating.

I started a new job just over a year ago. When I interviewed I said how much I struggled wfh and that I really needed to be in the office regularly. No problem I was told, there will be loads in the office. Then I start and find out hardly anyone goes in and a lot of the team are actually fully remote.. a year later and it’s no better. Yeah I could go in but often I do and I’m literally sat on my own all day and still doing video calls so I don’t really see the point!

My firm does 6 weekly catch ups with a manager separate to our teams (in place of appraisals). At my last one I said if I could change anything it would be the wfh situ, but the other manager just said how much wfh suits him blah blah and he would try to bring it up but the company won’t change.

I have another catch up tomorrow and I know one of the topics will be my progression. I don’t really want to go for promotion as I have other things going on outside of work, but I also know I cannot progress while I am working at home 4 days a week because my output is just terrible. Is there any point in saying this though? The company aren’t going to change their whole set up just for one person - but I suppose at least it would be ‘on record’?

I’m so torn! 😬

I don’t know the home working friendly company in the Autumn 2022 when it quite suited them that I joined (their wi-fi not set up etc to the point day 2 we were with laptop's at home training instead of trying physically not like we were told) who did a u-turn in home working autumn 2022 that working from home applied because they felt like it. January 2023 has recorded the unhappiness of not being able to home work. Who like’s to engage knowing taking temp staff taken on for Xmas 23 means guaranteed off for them. Stinks. I’m sure there will be managers stick up but I can’t find it in me. And it was at that point I knew I needed out.
