Leaving NHS - need a WFH job

Evening all,

So in a nut shell while I was on mat leave the team I was in got tuped into another service and some of my colleagues were effectively constructively dismissed. Everyone else left and when it came time for me to go back to work I got a new role in general practice and I left too.

It looked great on paper, (training provided - it hasn't and I'm now seeing patients).
I've been at the top of band 4 for a while and it's a band 5 role. But it's been a nightmare since I started and I'm dreading going in. I basically work across several seperate GP practices. My manager I've met once. I emailed her last week because I thought she would have checked in more and she got back to me days later and said I'd next see her at a meeting were having with others in another week..so I've been there a month this week and been left to it.

I've had zero induction. Some practices have been nice and welcoming and others dismissive. I'm also suffering with back & neck pain because some of the chairs I have to use all day are broken.

My last role I loved and it was agile. Sadly it was a bit of a pilot scheme in the NHS so I can't just apply for the same role elsewhere. It's made me realise that I'm never going to get anywhere in the NHS. I've spent 17yrs in it trying to do my OT training but the gov keep changing the rules/entry requirements.

Has anyone else left the NHS? I think I have a ton of transferable skills. The main thing ATM is I need flexibility around the kids and their schedules (school hours). My old manager was really flexible and as long as we got our work done she didn't mind us working outside of core hours to log off for the school run etc. And we all thrived and we're really happy. I'm currently physically unwell and feeling so deflated. Any advice would be appreciated. Tia

All I can say is that I understand as I 'm in a similar boat and looking at options. Are there any similar roles outside of the NHS you can apply for? Have you spoken with you GP about how you feel? Maybe taking some time off is an option to have space to think about your next steps?

I worked for the NHS as a scientist for over 20 years, I left and I've just got a job with the civil service.

I am yet to start so can't tell you exactly what its like but its a hybrid job where I go in 1 day and work from home for the remaining 3.

They were very open to hours ie part time full time and its also flexitime so fits in around childcare.

There is lots of room for climbing the ladder and im using this job as a foot in the door and then seeing whats available in the future.

I was a band 6 in the NHS and would have remained there forever, no promotion without doing a masters degree and thats something I wouldn't want to do.

Have a look on the civil service jobs website.

One thing is though its very slow, already been months since my application
