Flexible working request

I made a flexible working request at the end of May last year which wasn't finally approved until the start of August 22. I need to change it again this year but does anyone know if I need to wait until August 23 or can I make the request end of May 23 as long as it's over a year since I made the last request?

Thank you. I have checked and it says you have the right to make one flexible working request per year. I'm assuming if I am making the request slightly over a year ago (even if it wasn't finally agreed until 2 and a half months later). Then it will still be ok considering the actual date of request will be slightly over 1 year. However, I'm not absolutely sure if this is correct.

@Orlablue1 most sensible employers would not be overly concerned.

The legislative entitlement is a minimum, whilst employers don’t want requests every 5 minutes your situation should be fine.

Thanks Stemming, They have actually been quite difficult in the past. Therefore, I don't won't to give them a reason they could use this to refuse it.

Most companies I've worked with are a year from the flexible working request start date. The application date of the first one isn't usually considered as they have a set amount of time to respond.

For clarification check your employee hand book. Or book a meeting with hr. Also, it depends on what the conditions are for granting the request or if they have a review date set in place.

If they are unwilling to proceed with another flexible working request and you only need temp flexibility, I would see if you can apply for a temporary variation of contract/working hours. You would need to provide a reason and a clear end date for the request. They may not do this or have this as an option.

Most employers are being more flexible than ever as the market for new suitable recruits is tending to be scarce.

Mine says I can one per year but when I spoke to my Hr they said there is wriggle room subject to the reason. Reason for me was my DP was changed shifts completely and was in the same company so I changed my WLB to counter that. They accepted this.

I work in the NHS and the policy just says that a flexible working cannot be made within 12 months of a previous flexible working request. From my experience in the NHS they always take the maximum 3 months they are allowed to decide on the outcome and therefore if my last request didn't start until August 22 ( even though it was requested in May 22). Then according to some of the above posters I may need to wait until November 23 if they do agree it. This would be a full 18 months from my 1st request last year which seems a bit long. My manager has been very difficult regarding by flexibility in the past and I don't want to give them an excuse to dismiss it from the start due to the above timings.

@Orlablue1 based on the policy wording I suggest you make it clear in your application/covering note e.g. having made a flexible working request over 12 months ago on (date) as permitted under the policy I am submitting a new request.
