Interview advice

I have an interview this week.

It's 6 years since I had an interview and that was internal and a step up, so I managed it okay.

Other than that, it's 15 years since I attended an interview.

Any advice? Should I offer to shake hands? Wait for the interviewer to do so?

Also, any suggestions of questions I should or shouldn't ask. It's a temp post, if relevant.

Apparently I will be given the questions when I arrive, and the interview will last approximately 30 mins. I don't know if knowing either of these things is helpful to or not!

I'm so nervous.

i would be forward and shake hands yes.
questions wise: you could ask about the company culture, how bit your team is (if relevant), ask about work/life balance etc.
i think you should definitely ask a question or two when being asked just to show you are interested.
good luck!!

Thank you @Haveallthesongsbeenwritten

The problem is, they answered all of those questions in the candidiases pack!

I will think of something though, and I'll go for the handshake.

Ask what a typical day might look like.

What would you have to achieve in the first 1, 3 & 6 months to be considered a success.

Ask if there is a career path, if that's important to you.

Think about how to answer your strong / weak points.

Thanks @Wallywobbles I like that first one.

Not sure of asking about career progression. It's covering a maternity post, so don't want to look like I haven't understood that, or like I'm assuming they'll keep me on...

As someone who has only recently started interviewing one thing really shocked me. Your questions at the end need to be positive, really surprised me how much that swayed my opinion of the person!
How do you see the role developing?
What opportunities can you give me to learn?
Two good ones.
