Interview conundrum

cittigirl · 27/04/2023 09:38

Been offered 2 interviews, a week apart. Both require DBS which the company would process and pay for. I'm pretty sure I'll get offered the 1st one but the 2nd probably suits me better but no guarantee I'll get offered it. Any advice from anyone? I don't want to muck the 1st job around but I do need a job so will take one or the other if I'm offered. Hope that makes sense. Tia

  1. ask for time to decide if offered job 1
  2. try to move job 2’s interview forward

You can always accept job 1 then change your mind (although it’s clearly not best practice). DBS takes a while to come through anyway so this will give you breathing space

You could stall until you know the results of both? Any problem with both doing their own DBS?

cittigirl · 27/04/2023 09:48

I imagine the 1st job would apply straight away for the DBS. I don't want them to do that if I take the other job. I guess the only thing I can say is I've got another interview but that would make them think I'd take the other job if it was offered wouldn't it?

Why is the double DBS a problem?

Why is the double DBS a problem?

It isn't a problem for me but I don't want them to pay for a DBS if I don't take the job in the end.

I've asked if the 2nd job can bring the date forward 🤞

Well, I got offered the 1st one and was upfront about the next interview. I've had confirmation of the offer and I will let them know if I want to take it. Better and easier than trying to cover up in the end 😊

Make sure you don't lose that job. They could withdraw the job offer if they have a strong second candidate. Bird in the hand and all that.

FitAt50 · 30/04/2023 07:20

Dbs cost £18, I am sure they can afford to lose that if you don't take the job.

cittigirl · 01/05/2023 08:10

Oh I didn't know it was only £18.

They've given me until Friday to decide. Hopefully they won't withdraw it. I think there's more than one position. It'd be a shitty thing to do if they did withdraw it.
