TAs, do we get a pay rise this year?

Just that really.

I'm due to remortgage soon and wondered if/when we might get a pay rise if we work for the council.

I'm in Wales.

I work for local government in England, and I believe the local government pay award also covers Wales.

Last I heard the employers final offer was £1,925 which was rejected by unions. IIRC there’s going to be a ballot for strike action in May.

Noodlepoodle89 · 06/04/2023 18:14

I read about that Pinkfrogs. So that means no pay rise this April?

It won’t be paid this month, but when it is eventually agreed and proceeded it will be backdated to April and you’ll get a lump sum of backpay.

Not helpful when you’re right about to remortgage though unfortunately!

You may have received a scale point increment this month though.

BluebellBlueballs · 06/04/2023 18:29

It will probably not be agreed til the autumn, like last year, and get backdated.

It will probably come just in time for my Mot in November so the backdated pay is my MOT savings scheme essentially.

Wasn't the £1925 just awarded before Christmas?

It was, that was the April 2022 pay award.

The employers have offered the same again (for salary, not sure about the extras, like allowances) for April 2023 too.

PinkFrogss · 06/04/2023 18:41

Although on the subject of other offerings, if you work less than 52 weeks OP you will also get a tiny pay rise effective this month, to cover you pro rata increase in annual leave. Effective April 2023 full time employees are receiving 1 additional day leave.

Why not just ask your employer??????

Because they're on holiday right now. I will when I get back.

Thanks all. I work 39 weeks per year Pinkfrogs but it is calculated for 44.67 and proportioned over 52 weeks.

It's a national agreement. Employer won't know any more than what's already been said.

We're at a stalemate as unison have balloted for strike

Noodlepoodle89 · 06/04/2023 18:57

Well fingers crossed everyone. We can't carry on like this can we?
I've just seen a number of TAs leave my school to go to other jobs because they can't survive.

Any TA's here in Isleworth/Richmond/Twickenham/Brentford/Kingston?
DH wants to move from Greenwich area and it would obviously mean getting s new TA job - assuming even of there are vacancies I might miss out on potential pay rise? Am mid 50s
