Recruitment experience - bit crap - how did the job turn out?

Does it follow poor recruitment experience - often means a poor company to work for?

DD has the choice of two companies for a trainee position:
First one - interview in person, she liked the people. After the interview they promised to get back to her but didn't. They messed her around with when they'd get back to her, miscommunicated, delayed and finally told her she had the job via email - no details on job except salary and hours. I think she was probably second choice. - but it was badly handled
Second one - remote interviews due to location, got back to her within the time siggested with a phone call to say the offer was coming - sent through the offer with all the details she needed, seem really keen to have her, offered her more money than the first one - but she didn't meet them personally.

So I guess we are wondering if this is just a shit internal HR at the first one or a red flag of a chaotic organisation - which is my big concern, that her training will be chaotic - she's not bothered about the extra money but she feels a personal connection with the first one - she liked the people.

Personally, no matter how much I'd liked the first lot during interview, they'd have lost me with all the post-interview messing around.

Second lot are keen, efficient, reliable and pay more.

Seems like a no-brainer?

I’ve taken the equivalent of Job 1 a couple of times and it didn’t turn out well. Definite red flag when they’re that disorganised with recruitment.

Agree with pp - job 2 sounds like a no-brainer.

a connection with the people with whom you would be working would be a priority for me.

Have they confirmed that those are going to be part of her team? It would be quite unusual to be interviewed only by people with whom one would be in daily contact.

It's not the interview - although IMO that was a bit weird - they gave slipped her the answers to the technical questions beforehand. Dd found that hilarious at the time - but now it has just added to her feeling that maybe things were not as they seemed. They messed her around with letting her know the outcome and still haven't given her a proper offer detailing the terms of her employment and when she asked to speak with someone to discuss the terms of her employment their reply was very clipped and gave her vague timings for them to call - so now she has to wait in to have the conversation.

How do they recruit talent when they treat people so poorly, they are completely unprofessional.

I would be turning down Job 1! They sound chaotic and unprofessional. I can't imagine they will be very good to work for.

Job 2 sounds fine. Why the hesitation?

Agree with previous posters, job 2 is the way forward. Chaotic and disorganised recruitment processes = huge red flag. Companies are on display as much as candidates during the hiring process; if they are lacking self-awareness to the extent they don’t realise how they look to candidates, it would be a hard pass from me.

Slipping her the answers on job 1 sounds very suspect - is it a call centre?

No it’s not a call centre. It’s a technical role.

Hesitation because she met and connected with people in Job 1 - getting on with people is important to her and Job 2 the meet was over teams so the bond didn’t take place and she didn’t see the work environment - which isn’t an office. And I’m experienced enough to know that she has make her own decisions, I was always job 2. She eventually joined me as job1 screwed up more and more.

Can she go and visit job 2? Say she’s really excited and pleased to have the offer, can she come and meet them briefly ahead of starting? Then if she hates them she can go back to 1 (but 1 sound like bad news to me too!)
