Questions to ask at end of interview?

I've already been doing this role for 2 yrs on rolling contacts. My boss has secured funding for it to be a permanent post. The interview panel do not work in my sector, so I doubt they will know what I even do day to day. What are some questions I can ask at the end?

I think it's a bit different to most interview situations as you're already familiar with the role. What about asking something about higher level / future strategy - so, something about company direction / priorities over the short to medium term?

What's an average day in this role?
How do you see the role progressing or adapting with business?
I used to ask how covid/brexit had affected the business but not sure how relevant that is now, perhaps you could ask how they fared with the cost of living crisis?

Always ask do you have any hesitations about hiring me? Or similar so you can address any qualms they have head on.

Do you know who the panel are, or their roles relating to the position? Without that it's difficult to suggest given that you'll know far more about the job and organisation than they will!

You could ask if they now have enough knowledge about you to make a decision?

Thanks everyone.

@BlueSpark Always ask do you have any hesitations about hiring me? Or similar so you can address any qualms they have head on I never thought to ask this!!!

@titchy Do you know who the panel are, or their roles relating to the position? The panel are described in linked in as 'resourcing managers' so work in HR. They have no connection to my role at all. In 2yrs, I've never heard of them, but equally, have needed to contact HR for anything.

In that case I'd ask something generically HR-ey like will your previous employment count as continuous employment, or what pension can you join or are the terms and conditions the same.

BlueSpark · 19/03/2023 19:35

If it's HR/talent acquisition, I would scrap more specific stuff ideations about the role to their experience within the company and state that you will save more specific questions relating to the role if you get to round 2 but perhaps ask high level questions about it.

Have you checked out their LinkedIn profiles? I was told if you know who they are the. You should to show interest but it feels very invasive to me

I personally avoid anything about employment terms at interview (we've actually just had guidance through to not engage on pay especially at interview, public sector) If they won't know much about the role is there anything you could ask about the organisation, such as what are their biggest priorities and/or challenges are at the moment? (But being careful it's not something you could easily have found googling them- it can be a good time to showcase the research you've done, "I see in 2022 you achieved X, how do you see this impacting X")

fgdk · 19/03/2023 19:58

Oh sorry that's completely useless, just realised it was an internal role! My last internal role I did ask about how the role I was applying for would engage with the corporate priorities considering X.
