Data analytics interview - please help

Hello everyone,

I have an interview soon for my first ever data analytics role. It's my dream job and its for the local authority.

I've retrained from architecture so it's a huge step but a very junior role! Pay is just 21k for reference (to show how junior it is!)

Anyway, could anyone please give me any tips? It's all about land and property.

Cheers x

When you wrote your original application did you go down the list and explain how you met each point? If so I would do that for yourself in more detail, so you have an example (Situation, Task, Action, Result) which uses "I" words which meets each one.

And if it's not on the list I would have a think about how you'd answer a question on taking data and making it accessible for non technical non-data-y people.

Thank you @Augend23 - yes I did my application just like that (using the star method) and I am literally obsessed with presenting data in a simpler method.

I have lots of experience in analysing data and creating infographics so colleagues could understand it very easily (and quickly!).

Thanks for your help!

I can't believe I made it to interview stage tbh. I'm so lucky x

Agree with above - most questions are likely to be competency based and linked directly to the person spec and JD so prep around those.

@slamfightbrightlight thank you! I think I'll print it out tonight and practise. I'm so nervous.

I think most people see I'm an architect and just raise an eyebrow that I'd ever want to leave the industry. But here we are!

Husband is a data scientist, though quite high up now. But I recall a few of his interviews had some basic technical or statistical questions just to show he had some awareness of data handling (simple things like can you explain a normal distribution, or how would you display this data to a lay person or audience). Given its a junior role its unlikely to be an in-depth or complex question, but just be aware of basic data handling type things in case they ask.
