Let go without notice

I am absolutely furious! My job has let me go without any notice at all. Never had a performance review, either. Worst manager I have ever had.
the toxic politics in that workplace were absolutely awful, but I loved my actual job.

I’m just angry, and I don’t want to / can’t express it anywhere but here, in order to be careful.

I am looking to retrain in a new field (can’t say my field, as it’s outing- it’s rare, specialized)

looking into cybersecurity. But I am 50, and this has me feeling so worn down.

would love to hear your stories of retraining/ doing a whole new career, even later in life, (though that last one may be a lot to ask …I feel alone in this)

thank you -

How long did you work there?

DelphiniumBlue · 15/03/2023 08:24

You are entitled to notice however you've worked there. Speak to ACAS to find out what you can do.

DelphiniumBlue · 15/03/2023 08:25

Sorry, that should be ' however long you've worked there'.

You have to work for an employer for at least one month before you are entitled to any statutory notice. You are entitled to contractual notice from day one. Of course, your employer can let you go without notice provided they pay you in lieu of notice.

Regard the betting this ends up in a seedy rag if anyone is daft enough to give their stories away for free.

*what’s the betting
