State Pension contribution

quick and simple one I think.

How many hours a week/money earned means I will have full NI contributions in a year? I want to go back to work and need to work out how many hours the minimum should be. I’ve got a couple of years underpaid so I need to up my game now before I can get a full state pension.

I think the answer to your question is you need to earn above the Lower Earnings Limit. There's lots about it here -

www.litrg.org.uk/tax-guides/employment/what-national-insurance-do-i-pay-employee#:~:text=If%20you%20have%20employment%20earnings,NIC%20at%20a%20zero%20rate.

Current thresholds are here:

www.gov.uk/guidance/rates-and-thresholds-for-employers-2022-to-2023

This says you need to earn -

£123 per week
£533 per month
£6,396 per year

You could also look into paying to get those underpaid years made up.

Anyway pension.gov.uk has all the info.

When you say "go back to work", have you not been working because of small children?
In which case are you claiming child benefit (even if you don't take the money because of a higher earning partner) as this gives you home protection rights and state pension credits for children under 12.

Yes I have been off caring for my children but I have a few years that were not full from my younger years. I’ve had my NI paid for me while I’ve been off yes.
