Home office pre employment form! Help

Hi,
I’ve got a provisional offer for an EO role at Home Office. I got the offer on 3rd feb, however I’m transferring from another government department. I emailed the vacancy holder today to ask whether they could give me a rough indication of when the job would start and the lady replied asking what date I submitted the ‘long application form’ as it’s around 37 working days form the date the form gets submitted. I’m not aware of any forms. All I was asked to do on the provisional email was to accept the offer in 7 working days then send 2 payslips and 3 forms of Id. Can anyone help me with what form the recruitment person is referring to?

I would assume it’s the internal form HR and payroll complete, OGD 1 if I remember correctly.

@Americansmoothy I think OGD1 is the pension transfer form and I’m assuming that would be completed whilst HR fill in the transfer form? I am just really confused as even on here people have mentioned filling in pre employment forms but I’ve not been given any of this information on the emails from them. It’s a nightmare trying to get through to the correct recruitment team aswell!

@choud1901 I am slightly out of date.

Your process will be different to external recruits. You don’t need to do pre-employment forms.

When you next log on at work go on your Depts Intranet and search for transfers. If that doesn’t give you the process/form then ask your HR.

Just googled and found these links:
www.gov.uk/government/publications/guidance-for-civil-servants-how-to-move-jobs-between-departments-and-agencies/how-to-move-roles-across-the-civil-service-guidance-for-employees

www.gov.uk/government/publications/guidance-for-civil-servants-how-to-move-jobs-between-departments-and-agencies
The form is part way down the page

Hi OP

Americansmoothy’s link has the details you need. . I recently transferred from the Home Office to another government department. The form has two parts you need to complete and a part for your line manager to complete. It then needs to be sent to your new department (I would copy in the HR email address in the job advert and also your new vacancy holder).

The form ultimately needs to get from the department you work for now to Home Office Shared Services.

Best of luck 🍀

@Americansmoothy thank you for these links! I had a look at them previously and followed the steps but was just very confused by the vacancy holders email about the ‘long application form’. Thank you so much 😁

@Teedeedum Ah great hope you’re enjoying your new role! yep I’ve completed the part a1 just need to do part a2 once a start date and salary has been confirmed.
How long did it take for all of your security checks and everything to fully go through? It’s just frustrating because they don’t email back when I have asked them whether they have received everything for the security checks. I applied for the job back in November and they still can’t give me a rough indication of a start date.

Hi Choud1901

Yes those are the forms, I remember them well…….Mine was fortunately very quick as I already had clearance in the role I was doing (and had just renewed it for 10 years) and the new one is more basic clearance.

It can take a while but hopefully as you are changing depts it might be quicker.

Just keep on top of it and be a nuisance if you have to be.

I am loving my new job thanks. Congrats to you and all the best in your new role 🙃

Is it the security vetting form? I had to do it. It's massive and insane and then I failed!

@choud1901 it can take a long time. I was offered the job on 15/1/2022 and accepted it right away. Then crickets for a while.

I submitted the form for the checks on 9 March, they asked for some clarifications (re my mother never changed her surname after marriage to my dad). Checks were fully submitted on 21 March. Got the results on 16 May. More crickets.

Beginning of June I was notified I'd commence beginning of July.

It isn't fast.

@lillysmom ahh I see! In regards to the form for checks is this something that the vacancy holder emailed you a link to or was did they tell you on your provisional email that you need to fill that form in? Nobody has mentioned a security form to me from the home office and this is why I don’t know if my checks are going through yet. No response from their recruitment team either as of yet.

@choud1901 it took them 1 month to email the security form lol They will email the transfer module only after you've passed the checks, either to you or your manager. You fill in 1A, manager does 2. But the transfer module is the last bit. It will happen 2 weeks before you take the post. Relax!
