Maternity Pay

Can anyone help with this if you have some HR knowledge. I'm very confused (maybe pregnancy brain) and HR are not helping.

I'm currently pregnant and going on maternity leave soon. I work 37.5 hours weekly for a private bank.I've just received a letter which states the following in terms of pay.

You will receive statutory maternity pay (SMP) for the first 39 weeks of your absence, topped up to full pay by Occupational Maternity Pay (OMP) for the first 26 weeks. SMP is paid at two rates, 6 weeks higher rate at 90% of your average weekly Nlable earnings, followed by 33 weeks lower rate SMP (or 90% of your average weekly Nlable earnings [whichever is lower]).

Whilst you're in your full pay period of your Maternity leave, you can expect your pay (SMP + OMP) to be in line with what you would have received in annual salary each month.

Your OMP (full pay period) will end on 24/09/2023.

Your SMP (statutory pay period) will end on 24/12/2023 - after this date, if you take the full 52 week maternity leave period, the remainder of your Maternity leave will be unpaid.

My question is how many weeks of full pay do I receive. Is it 6 weeks or is it 26 weeks, that is until 24th September.

I'm nor hr, but reading that it looks like full pay to the September?

26 weeks. Smp +omp top up.

26 weeks of full pay (but the full pay is made up of SMP and a top up from your employer).

It's very generous.

In the NHS it’s only 8 weeks full pay and 18 weeks half pay. Then SMP for three months and unpaid for three months. Your package is so generous!

@Asulu you’re going to get a lot of jealous parents here OP - myself included 🤣🤣

Very generous. Full pay until 24/9/23. It will show on your pay slip as SMP + OMP but will be the same as you would normally get as a full time wage.
Then just SMP until 24/12, then the rest unpaid if you wish to take the full 52 weeks.
