Bitchy work colleagues

Hi all,

I am going back to work soon after maternity leave, I requested part time hours which was granted anyway two other women requested part time but both was turned down. They are both senior compared to me so I think that's why. One of them also told my work colleague about an accident my daughter had and I said I didn't appreciate my business being spread through the office as I fell awful about it. Since then the one has been funny with me and is completely ignoring me now.

She also said it's unfair that my hours approved and hers wasn't but she also said she couldn't afford to live off a part time wage and even asked me before how I am surviving on maternity pay as it's stat pay.

Noone else is talking to me in work so essentially I am the office bitch ... Am in the wrong? Truthfully I have no family to help me apart for my MIL so I needed to go part time I just don't know how to cope with it especially when I have to go back.

You've done nothing wrong, you requested part-time hours and it was granted. Just ignore them, clearly they have nothing better to do.

Don't understand what you've done either.

She's bitter her part time hours didn't get granted.

Be pleased she's ignoring so you don't have to listen to her shit.

Best advise I was given was, kill them with kindness.

Don't bite to her

I honestly feel so lost about the whole suitation, it's making me not want to go back and I know she was slagging the other girl on maternity leave to me so I guess it's my turn? Who knows. I keep trying to be pleasant with her but even my messages are being ignored now.

I have restricted them on Facebook etc to try and keep my work life separate as well.

You are not as fault, they are. I’d leave them to it.

This is one reason I’m not on Fakebook, I like to keep family private. Once you return just do your job and go home.

I’d remain polite but not overkill.

Firsttimemummy23 · 22/02/2023 19:09

I wasn't even invited to the Christmas party 🤣the only one! Although I wouldn't haven't gone as she was too young.
I'll just be nice and be polite but not too much.

rise above it op.
you are not to blame for them not getting the part time hours

Emmamoo89 · 22/02/2023 19:12

You've done nothing wrong x

I was once ‘left out’ of a night out. It was only when by chance I was speaking on the phone with a colleague in another office that I found out when she asked if I’d be going?

I much prefer working from home nowadays as I can’t be arsed with the office politics!
