I posted a few weeks back. I started a job a few weeks ago having been fairly successful freelancing I may add but things went quiet and I got twitchy about money. So I applied for a few jobs and one came through. I started the job and was then offered another but the pay is not the same so I'm sticking with current job.
The problem is I feel like the only older worker where I am: even though I've been brought in to shake things up I can see it's a bit of a mess.
My deputy - I think expected to get my job because my predecessor was rubbish apparently.
Anyway deputy treads on my toes all the time and treats me like a subordinate- when I pulled him up (he's 20 years younger than me and even at his age I had more qualifications and experience than he does) he sulked for a whole day.
Then I've come in with loads of little tweaks and ideas that are slowly working however I've not kept a note of what I've told this deputy and I've had to take a day off sick and I can see from slack he's lording it over the team and claiming my ideas as his.
Im really fed of this - I just want to work somewhere where I can be a female manager and my experience is respected and I f ok my have shout about it all the time.
I have a track record of being good at what I do so I am speaking with experience and a record of getting things done. The culture in the company is to work long hours and the pay is rubbish - there's also the issue of not having a contract of employment and when I asked to top up the pension they've set up I was told it's a 'rubbish' scheme and I should set up my own extra pension.
