So i have a new job in a school
in my contract is says my salary is '£28,216 per annum' and it later says my working weeks are 39 and plus holiday entitlement i will be paid for 44 weeks per annum.
Does this mean I get paid the full salary or just 44 weeks worth of it?
I'm very confused!
Thank you

I am not surpised you are confused, but you need to clarify it with your employer. I would expect to see an annual salary with a reference to "pro--rata" payment which means that it is adjusted for the part-time nature of the role. But based just on a few words out of cobtext it would be dangerous to tell you anything as it may be wrong. Only the employer can definitively tell you what they mean.

You will probably receive about 23,810 ish as it is normally pro rata. This is them normally paid over 12 months so you get the same every month.

*then

Theres no mention of pro rata anywhere. I did look up the NJC pay scales they mentioned and the scale they said i was on was higher than 28216 and when i did the maths it worked out that 28216 would be around what i would be paid with the holidays if that makes sense?

Annual figure would be for someone working 37 hours per week 52 weeks per year. Yours will be pro rated according to weeks worked (term time plus entitlement weeks) and how many hours per week you work. There is often a calculation that shows this on the employment contract.

NoMoneyForEducation · 11/02/2023 18:25

Are you term time only? Non-teaching? In which case, yes, divide your salary by 52 then times by the 44 - so pro-rata as you do not work 52 weeks.

If you thought the 28,216 was already pro-rata (so the FT salary would have been £33K ish - then you need to go back to speak to the school. What did the job advert say?

You're not getting enough holiday pay either, after the Harper Trust case you should get a minimum of 5.6 weeks.
