Your examples of a progressive flexi-working policy

Hello all,

New to the group and wanted to pose the question of what a progressive flexi-work policy looks like. I've just started working for a great company that is expanding and now covers all of the UK and beyond - this means increased travelling and longer away from home.

The company want to shape their policies to be progressive and I've struggled to find inspiration online of what this looks like. If anyone has a role where they do frequent travel and are away from home please can you share any insights to how your organisation gives time back.

One example is I traveled for 8 hours, and then delivered training for the following x3 days with return travel on top of that (full day delivery and then getting back in the early hours of the Saturday morning).

We have our contracted hours so 9-5.30 and anything done over that counts as flexi time. So if i leave at 7am and do not get home until 8pm i will get the extra hours back as flexi. We can also start early or work late as long as our core hours of 10-4 are worked. We get 1 hour lunch. What i will say is that flexi builds up very quickly and becomes difficult to take. Once i hit 14 hours you are meant to take it but it is difficult.

Hey Mumonthehill, thank you so much for sharing your experience of flexi-time - I can imagine that it becomes tricky to take the time so there is something about planning it in to workloads.... Will keep this in mind! Thank you again :)
