Work provided incorrect maternity pay breakdown

My company offers a (small) enhanced maternity pay and provided me with a breakdown of what my monthly pay would be whilst on maternity leave.

It now looks like some of their calculations were incorrect and actually I'm due less than what they had in the breakdown.

My question is where I stand here? Do I have a right to still request the amount based on the breakdown, as it was their error? Its about £700 difference this month. In the grand scheme of things that's not much to them, but is to my monthly bills

I’d always correct errors they can request it back if they can show it was a mistake

So they've paid me what they are now saying is the correct amount. I questioned it, as I was expecting another £700 based on the breakdown they gave me a few months ago (before going on mat leave)

They're looking into it now. But just feels like they should honour the original amount

You'd feel the same way if they had underestimated the amount and you were due a larger payment?

As explained, it is permissable for an error to be corrected. Even after the event. You can ask them to honour the mistaken calculation but you can't make them do so.

Did you not do any calculations yourself as to what you would be due? Unless their enhanced scheme is very complex I think it would be reasonable to assume that you would personally have had an idea of what you should be due each month so surely the onus is not just on the company? Unless you have a very high salary to start with, the difference of £700 in your first month of maternity pay must be quite a lot so I feel it's something that you should have queried well before now.
