Oh world have loved to know answer to this.. Hopeful bump.

solosunflower · 08/02/2023 11:19

Only thing I've really found is the supermums website. I can't afford the training, although it does look good.

Have you tried Trailhead? trailhead.salesforce.com/ - it is the Salesforce learning platform. If you follow the Admin trailmix you should be able to teach yourself all you need for Admin certification then you just need to pay for the exam.

Adelais · 08/02/2023 14:08

I’m curious about this too. I saw the super mums courses but they are so expensive.

solosunflower · 08/02/2023 17:51

Has anyone actually got a job in this arena, though??

I do, currently studying for the exam after becoming more of an 'accidental admin' at work.

I too looked at supermums but it is very expensive, I agree that with trailhead and perhaps a Udemy course 'Mike wheelers for example' is very good and with some hard work you'll be able to study and pass the ADM201 exam, where supermums do have the edge is that they will provide you with access to work experience.
it seems to be a huge growth area, but if you study you could then look to become a junior salesforce admin and move up from there.

MuckSavage · 11/02/2023 18:16

I'm a SF admin

Secondtimesally · 11/02/2023 18:24

I agree with PP that this is a huge growth area and there are and will continue to be lots of jobs related to Salesforce. I work as a project manager putting in this system and it is market leading.
Self study is hard work - about 80 hours to do the admin exam. You can buy sample exams from Focus On Force. There are so many other roles an admin could lead on to. Ideally you want to get into a company that uses it so you can learn the ropes, which is the advantage SuperMums gives.

Thirder · 11/02/2023 18:27

I'm one, although I do it about 50% of the time combined with a lot of analysis and documenting, planning etc.
I started my career as a software developer. Moved into Salesforce after about 2yl years in development, did ADM201.
Now I only do trailheads (short online courses) when I need to for any specific function I'm working on.
Salesforce Admin solely on its own can be dull, no doubt about it. So I'm training in other areas of UX and project management.
UX experience or training works really well alongside SF Admin work.
Money can be good, particularly in SF Contracting. I got a few contracting jobs very easily (through linkedin). If you do the exam, tag your profile as certified, you'll get chased.
You can do it all remotely. I'd highly recommend it if you have an interest in cloud applications, customer support applications of any type, you like working with different business functions, marketing, sales etc. There will be some reporting probably for management so you need to be approachable and able to explain things well.
There are maintenance tests 3 times a year to maintain credentials but these are easy.

Thirder · 11/02/2023 18:29

To add, I don't know what supermums is, but the exam was only 100 dollars. I did a course before it but many people don't and just did self study. Course was not essential to pass although the exam itself wasn't a breeze. Ideally you would want hand in experience with Salesforce and lots of practice building an org from scratch.

Thelittlekingdom · 14/04/2023 11:30

@Thirder, work want to send me on a sales force course. I’ve never used it, I’m not from a tech background and mainly use google to solve any issues I have. How do you find using Salesforce?

Thirder · 20/04/2023 19:34

Yes do the course!
It might be more difficult not being from a tech background. But not impossible. Salesforce is deigned to be used by people who don't code.

Thelittlekingdom · 21/04/2023 14:29

@Thirder, brilliant thank you. Must admit it seems a bit scary and confusing at the moment but I’m hoping the course makes things a bit clearer especially as I’m from a non tech background.

abnvc · 08/08/2023 09:53

I used to be a Salesforce Admin before moving to Salesforce Consultant. Feel free to message me for any questions. I did the Supermums course, so I can give you info about that as well.

I can't recommend the course enough if you are looking to get into Salesforce, the Supermums team hold your hand through all the exams, and then find you a job at the end.

@abnvc
Hello, I've just finished my A-levels, and my goal is to pursue a career as a Salesforce Administrator. I've been reading job descriptions, and it seems like most of them want more than just a Salesforce exam qualification – they're looking for hands-on experience with the software. The problem is, when I contacted potential employers, they didn't give me clear guidance on how or where to gain this experience.

Considering my situation, could you please advise me on the best path for someone like me who's fresh out of A-levels, to become a Salesforce Administrator?
