... to help stop me feeling it's just me.

Applied at the beginning of September. Interviewed at the beginning of October. Assigned department beginning of December. Was sent offer just before Christmas. Will have vetting appointment at the end of January.

I can't hand my notice in in my current job until I've got through the security checks.

This will be my first role in the Civil Service, I'm used to the private sector where I'd probably have been in post for 2 months by now. Is it always this slow?

Had an email at lunchtime to say I've completed vetting successfully so now I need to wait for my formal offer.

That's great! My pre-employment checks started on Monday, and now only the pension arrangement is pending. Rest everything is completed. Don't know how long it will take to get an offer letter.

Interviewed in October. Don't start until April

GeminiSid · 15/03/2023 18:35

@TravellingSpoon did you get a start date?

TravellingSpoon · 15/03/2023 18:42

Yes, end of April.

I applied in March, interviewed in April, provisional offer received end of May, vetting forms filled in July, I am still waiting to hear back (2 weeks so far) nice to know I am not alone in this, mine is a bulk campaign (140 positions were advertised!) I was hoping to start in September but it’s looking highly unlikely right now 😩

@Sairay if you've only just started vetting I would say September is unlikely, but you may get lucky.
