Hi , I was a Gp receptionist for a brief period of time.
I thought I would enjoy it but it wasn’t for me.
It’s usually minimum wage for so much work, we were expected to be doing three or four jobs at once, even on the front desk which is impossible if you don’t want to make mistakes.
The atmosphere was very bitchy and toxic….. 15 to 20 women working together….nightmare.
Theres no downtime, you are expected to work constantly.
It all depends on how good your manager is and what the people you work with are like.
Where I worked had a huge staff turnover, I heard some only lasted a couple hours, got their coat and walked. I managed eight weeks!
Lets not get started on the rudeness and abuse you get from the general public.
That said, some people obviously do like it!
