I recently started in a new role, the work I am doing is not really what was advertised but it is a growing business so I am expecting this to be a temporary thing. Last week a colleague and their LM discussed a workstream with me as though it was being developed/managed by me, which I knew nothing about, it was discussed like I knew about it. I felt like I was unable to say that I actually knew nothing about this and I didn't want to appear stupid. I am happy to help with this but do not feel that it is in my remit and it is a big piece of work and my LM is keen for me to refine my role. What is the best way to approach this..?

I'd start by asking my line manager!

Some advice. One doesn't look stupid by telling people that something hasn't been discussed with you, and you are not aware of what they are talking about so you need to talk to your line manager to get up to speed. You do look stupid not saying anything because you don't know what they are talking about! Be more confident.

Thank you @Quveas , in hindsight I really wish I had, but felt outnumbered. I had just come out of one meeting, straight into this one and because it was tech focussed wanted to make sure I hadn't missed anything.
