Struggling working full days

I work 16 hours per week and for the past 3 years I have worked 9.30- 2 four days a week.
Everyone else works full days and my colleagues complained to the manager that it wasn't fair because on the days I am in they are shorter staffed, on my day in there are 5 all day and me and on the days I am not in there are 6 all day.
The manager has now changed me to work 2 full days and I'm really struggling, I get so tired in the afternoon and I can't cope with the long day.
I use to work full days but I then had cancer and I just don't have the energy anymore for full days work. I explained to my manager when the rota was changed that I didn't think I would cope with full days. I ended up crying in work today because I felt so exhausted.

Do you have an HR department? A free call to the ACAS helpline might help work out if you have rights in this area.

Oh OP! I also struggle working full days due to health.

My last manager tried to force me into full days. I said no and like you, had a damn good reason.

In the end I had to leave. All the colleagues who were moaning about my hours (25 hours a week) now have even more work to do as HR decided not to replace me due to recession fears.

They're begging for me to return!

Can you look for a new role? You shouldn't have to but still :(

Op you posted about this before, you really need to go to HR or your equivalent and state the reason for the adjustment to your days, they have a duty to your care and also your colleagues sound like unprofessional arses and they shouldn't be gossiping about your work days.

Please take care of yourself and don't let this drag on, your health comes first especially after cancer, I know how it can make you feel from personal experience.

Also polite reminder to your shitty colleagues, that the rota of staff being in and how many/service affected is THE MANAGER'S job not yours!!!

HR Director here.

You are entitled to Reasonable Adjustments as a former cancer sufferer. you need to ask specifically what has stopped working about your shorter days, confirm that it is making you unwell and ask what other options there are.
