Last week I wasn’t very well with a chest infection. The process with work is to inform the Supervisor on duty that you won’t be in with an approximate date of return. I texted her on Monday morning explaining I was Ill but received no reply back. It left me feeling worse that she didn’t even acknowledge my message.
Why would she be like this?

Nobody knows why she didn’t reply. Ask her when you next see her or let her know that you’d like a reply if you message to say you’re unwell

There could be lots of reasons why she didn't reply. As pp has suggested its easier to just ask why rather than to speculate or imagine.

Hope you feel better

You didn’t phone them? Most if not all workplaces state in their sickness and absence policy that a phone call is required and if you can’t get through then leave a voicemail.
It wouldn’t surprise me if they pulled you into an investigation meeting for failing to follow the correct process… considering they haven’t responded to you - that is probably going to be the case.

This was my first thought. My work is very specific, it has to be a phone call, have you checked your policy?

Loads of texts go astray - do you know she received it?

Personally I would have phoned in, you don't even know if she received the text and if the policy is to ring in then really, you've not turned up for work and haven't given them a phone call explaining why. I would ring her ASAP and explain yourself before you get into any more trouble.

At work we have to phone in. I rang in sick once and someone on my team texted me to say she wasn't well and I didn't see it until hours later because I was ill and had gone to sleep - caused all sorts of problems at work that nobody knew she was coming in.

Perhaps they only get in touch if you remain of sick and they reach the point where a Fit note is needed, that’s what happened in my case. I sent an email to the boss alongside calling a national absence line each day who have been lovely enough.

No reply good news and you can prove you sent the text, I’m sure there is pressure on some people to work through regardless.

I am also surpised that a text is permitted, but she hasn't been like anything. If you wanted to speak to her you could have picked up a phone. She doesn't need to respond - assuming she saw the text. That is why texts are not really ideal ways of commnicating - they can be missed or go astray. Pick up a phone if you want to speak to your supervisor.
