Tea/Coffee at work

Hey! I'm interested to know what your tea and coffee situation is at work? Is there an expectation you take in your own or does work provide it? If they don't provide, does that generally work for you? If they do, how do you manage things like milk as obviously this would need to replenished more often? Any feedback welcome 🙂

Tea, coffee and milk are all provided. Large private sector company.

ChessieFL · 09/01/2023 17:42

Private sector - all provided.

Previous public sector job - nothing provided. Everyone had their own teabags/coffee then there was a kitty for milk.

tigger1001 · 09/01/2023 17:42

Tea/coffee/sugar and milk all provided for. Smallish private company

LadyHarmby · 09/01/2023 17:43

Private sector. All provided including fancy coffee machines. Facilities team keep everything clean and stocked.

toomuchfaster · 09/01/2023 17:44

Retail: Nothing provided, not even cups, and no facilities at all in some venues.

All ours is provided but it isn’t to my taste so I take my own coffee and just use their milk.
It’s annoying when the milk has gone though because in the summer it’s been on the doorstep for 4 hours before anyone arrives. Drives me mad wasting my coffee when I go to pour the milk in and it curdles into lumps 🤮

LubaLuca · 09/01/2023 17:44

Large private sector, all drinks provided. Tea, coffee, squash, cans, fruit juice, milk, all the peripherals.

EspeciallyDetermined · 09/01/2023 17:44

All provided, including decaff, alternative milks etc. Small private company.

Previous job (large multinational) we had a milk kitty, it was a pain for the organiser.

SuburbanMummy123 · 09/01/2023 17:45

Tea, coffee and milk all provided in every (private sector) job and office I’ve been to. Used to work at client sites so have seen a lot
of private companies, would be penny pinching not to provide basic tea & coffee! In some smaller companies employees buy milk as needed, from a kitty or company card.

fatsinglereadytomingle · 09/01/2023 17:46

Tea fund.
£2 a month on pay day. Pays for tea, coffee, sugar, milk. As well as salt, pepper and sauces.

CornedBeef451 · 09/01/2023 17:47

Public sector, nothing is provided, not even a mug, teaspoon nor washing up sponge!

HundredMilesAnHour · 09/01/2023 17:47

Work provide tea and coffee (plus milk) on each office floor but there's also a coffee shop in reception. 'Housekeeping' staff replenish milk, coffee beans, tea bags etc. We bring (and wash) our own mugs etc and each kitchen area is kept immaculately to a serial killer level. 😂 (I work for a global market leader in Financial Services in a large shiny office in London).

we stopped getting ours deluvered at work for that reason (south facing front door, no shade). We get a supermarket delivery now, once every couple of weeks and get Cravendale so it lasts.

EspeciallyDetermined · 09/01/2023 17:48

Sorry, quoted the wrong post there it should have been the one about milk going off outside

bloodyeverlastinghell · 09/01/2023 17:48

I have two jobs both companies provide everything. One is client facing and we get nice lavazza coffee pods and fancy shortbread. The other it’s big standard instant but there is always biscuits too.

Zwicky · 09/01/2023 17:59

Nhs - £1 a week in a team of 12. We get tea (Yorkshire), coffee (3 types ffs), some sort of hot chocolate drink (variable), bovril (vom), copious biscuits, salt, pepper, sugar (2 types), sauces etc.

We’ve always got money left over but sometimes we buy a new appliance (kettle, microwave etc).

Same here also public sector. Current workplace does have a microwave though so that's an improvement.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 09/01/2023 19:21

NHS. We pay for it ourselves, organised by one member of the team.

TerfOnATrain · 09/01/2023 19:24

Large private sector corporate, outside London you buy your own. Tea club, people contribute, others pinch and don't contribute to club.

London and important city offices, same company, Tea, coffee, milk, fancy fruit teas and decaf and squash provided free.

what can I say?

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 09/01/2023 19:25

Nhs, we all chipped in for the kettle , we each buy our own tea & coffee, no one bothers with milk as no one remembers to pick up on way in.

Same here. Public sector. Our microwave is about 100 years old.

Krakenes · 09/01/2023 19:27

Private sector, bean to cup machine that does decaf and regular plus flat whites, etc. Array of teas (twinings, early grey, assam, breakfast and herbal). Different types of milk. Fruit bowls daily and chilled still and sparking water.

Singleandproud · 09/01/2023 19:27

Previous Public sector - free tea/coffee/hot chocolate / soup vending machine in main staff room. Team office £10 a year for tea, coffee and milk, line manager picked up milk weekly and occasionally a box of biscuits if enough money left over.

Current public service - free tea, coffee and UHT milk.

Helpmesortit · 09/01/2023 19:28

Private sector- tea and coffee is all free, the canteen is also substantially subsidised. It’s more economical to buy food in there than do it myself.

Ragwort · 09/01/2023 19:29

I work for a charity - a lot of my colleagues are volunteers so it's a basic courtesy to provide free tea, coffee, biscuits and snacks. But I am a total coffee snob so take in my own ground coffee (which I am happy to share Grin).
