Career change ideas?

Looking for ideas please

Mum of 2 young kids, one in school and one under 2. Currently work 4 days a week, nominally 9-5, in a job where I have to record timesheets and therefore work a minimum X hours per day (which often means evening work/unpaid leave when stuff goes wrong with childcare). No immediate family in area so totally dependent on paid childcare.

Ideally, I would like to move to a more flexible job where I can work fewer hours (say, 3 days a week or half days only), I can work from home, I don't have to do timesheets and work is done on a task-basis i.e. as long as the work gets done it doesn't matter exactly when in the day/week it gets done and I don't have to be available at set times. Financially I'd need to be making at least £27k pa in a salaried role.

Current job is in the corporate legal sector (but not tied to this and v happy to move to other sectors). Skills are writing, editing, governance advice and general admin.

Am I looking for a unicorn?

Any ideas v welcome :)

Hey there,

I am currently studying for a MSc Quantity Surveying 1 Yr taught course.
It's full time- 2 full uni days a week then when my modules are completed about April it's just research and writing up my dissertation.
Graduate Quantity Surveyor roles that I am applying for (Sept 2023 ntake) all start around £25,000 - 27,000.
Mixture of site work and office work. A few companies are open to working from home some of time.
Your background sounds ideal for the role.

Lots of companies will train you but for me the MSc option suited my family situation.
I'm enjoying the course more than I
expected to. Have had some work experience on site and it was great to get an insight into the role.
Hope this helps!
