im going to be applying for a job in a school and i have no criminal record or convictions or anything at all.

a few years ago, my partner and i had some problems and argued a bit and my next door neighbour called the police and someone from domestic violance rang me and said that my name and number was going to be on their domestic violence files and if i rang them they would know who i was and come over to check things were ok. i told them that things were fine and it was just an argument and they rang a few weeks later to check and i said things were fine and i havent heard from them since.

im just worried because i need to get an enhanced crb check when i go for the job and im worried incase it comes up about domestic violence on it and me being a victim in the past.a relative of mine works at the school and will see the results of the check.

anyone got any experience or knowledge of this? i would have thought it would only be offenders that it would show up on?

thanks for any help, their website doesnt really explain anything and the helplines are shut!

If it was a conviction then yes it would show up.
are you sure it was, and not just a caution? as if it was just a caution it will only show up if it is a final police caution.

either way, having a conviction on your record does not mean that you are not suitable. sometimes it can show that you have made mistakes and grown from them.
something that happened many years ago is unlikely to stop you frm getting a job now.

For advice on what will and wont show on your results go to NACRO they are free, not for profit and completely independent. The CRB recommend them because they offer free and impartial advice and support. You can search for them on the web they do have a website with loads of info. If anyone does look for them I think NACRO stands for National Association for the Care and Resettlement of Offenders.

Hope that helps

I am very please to join this site. I am in a very similar situation, a couple of months ago me and my Hb had a loud argument and the neighbour called the police, they took our details and then left, we didn't sign anything and the following week we received a letter from Childrens' servises saying they had been contacted by the police and that they would close our case there. The problem is that these days I will have to go through an enhanced CBR cHECK AND i CANNOT TELL YOU HOW WORRIED i AM , i CAN'T EVEN SLEEP WELL THINKING ABOUT IT. i HAD NEVER HAD ANY SORT OF TROUBLE WHATSOEVER...aNYONE OUT THERE MIGHT HAVE HAD THE SAME EXPERIENCE, PLEASE SOME INFO ON THAT WOULD BE GREAT, i DONN'T REALLY KNOW HOW THE POLICE MIGHT HAVE CLASSIFIED THIS InCIDENT AND IF THIS COULD SHOW UP IN MY CBR MANY THANKS.

This won't show up on a crb unless you comitted a crime, and if you had committed a crime the police would have told you.

Thanks colditz for your quick response, No they have never contacted us since and we were never tod we had commited an offence or anything like that, they just told us we have to try not to annoy the neighbours , we just had a bad day I guess. We are absolutely fine now. I will sleep a bit better tonight...Thanks again
