Anyone got any ideas to help me boost my income?

I need some realistic suggestions to help me boost my income. I work part-time for the NHS. Band 3 low pay and long shifts. I'm a single parent to 2 primary aged DC. I'm barely surviving financially and need to find a way to top up my income around my children.

Since getting divorced my children have struggled with the transition with having me home doing the majority of childcare to me working more to support us. I also struggle with balancing the cost of childcare v low paid work.

For context I have the potential to earn a lot more with additional training but that won't be realistically for 5 years.

In the meantime I need to find some extra work I can do in school hours. Any suggestions?

Thanks 😊

Friend is doing Bank work to top up her income.

I think is the million dollar question everyone wants the answer to right now!
The only thing I would suggest is join NHS professionals and pick up some more shifts.

School hours ah that's supermarkets or hospitality work around here

When I had younger dc I cleaned houses school hours only. It wasn't easy but I earned not bad money.

Thank you. I can pick up overtime shifts daily if I wanted as we are so short of staff but my children's emotional well being is really suffering with me working more, hence why I wanted something in school hours.

I guess it is the million dollar answer isn't it! My shifts change weekly too (although I get them set years in advance) so I would need something flexible. Probably wishful thinking that such a job exists!

I'd second cleaning. Cleaners are always in demand, and most people want in school hours. Two of my friends have a couple of regular clients and earn £15 an hour for 4-5 hours a week, they'd definitely be able to get more clients with very little effort if they wanted to

Self-employed cleaning. Going rate is £15 per hour where I live, which I guess is more than you earn as a band 3.
I have recently started doing this myself. It's great, I can chose my hours and fit in the school run.
